FAFF7: Studio Stasi

It’s time for Fridays are For Features again! I’m actually surprised I haven’t mentioned the design skills found at Studio Stasi. It’s a nice blend of fun and professional.  I know Stacey from the University of Central Florida, as she was Vice President of the Illustration Student Association (and has a great logo for it in her portfolio too).  Studio Stasi is two people though,  and all in all, both Stacey Woods (soon to be Stacey Baldini) and Tony Baldini make an awesome design-duo.

Here’s a favorite:

Stacey Woods

Oh and another thing they have going for them is their use of social media, I actually went to a presentation on social media held by Stacey, and it was excellent.  You can find them both on twitter, linked-in, or right here.

FAFF6: Samuel Jimenez Design & Photography

Just because I missed the post on friday, doesn’t mean I’m not going to post anything. I figured, since I don’t post much photography here’s a chance I have to show you an excellent photographer. He was also president of the Graphic Design Student Association, along with being a founder for Hunter & Quail. I’m posting a couple of my favorite photos from him, below, but definitely check out website of Samuel Jimenez

FAFF5: Design by Jessica.

So this friday I’d like to feature a local but talented designer.  She used to work where I work (OSI Design Group at UCF), but now that she’s graduated she’s moved on to working with COX Media.  You may know her from Ad2Orlando, or perhaps some of her designs for non-profit organizations.   Have you ever visited UCF’s Student Government site?  It’s her design.  I may also recommend her blog, she does shed light one some good resources.  So if you have moment, I recommend you check the work of Jessica Livingston.

FAFF4: Comple Designs

I can’t mention Sweet Daddy Designs without mentioning the right hand of the shop. This Friday I’m featuring another graphic designer with a love for the print. In fact, not to long ago, this week in fact she received honorable mention at an art show at The University of Central Florida. So I’ll stop babbling and just give the link to Comple Designs.  Be sure to also check the printmaking link in her bio.

FAFF3: Sweet Daddy Design Shop

Today’s Fridays are for Features is going to give us a little look into the printmaking world. Ashley Taylor is currently the president of the Print Collective at the University of Central Florida.  If you love letterpress, you will love her designs, if you don’t love letterpress, you soon will, and if you hate letterpress, you will be converted.  I’d like to say her work is a nice blend of old-school concepts with contemporary execution, and it’s all very clean to top it off.

And since I just now realize that photos may make the FAFF series better, click the logo to check the work:

FAFF2: Nardia Cumberbatch

I am not going to miss this week’s Fridays are for Features!  Today, I’m going to show you someone who’s got more experience than I do in the field, I used to work with her and she’s great to work with, she definitely has a really great eye for layouts.  Her style is very clean, but at the same time can be a lot of fun.  She needs to update her portfolio because I know she’s got some little hidden gems that haven’t been posted yet!  But either way, go check out Nardia Cumbebatch.

FAFF1: Vanie Illustration and Design

Faff stands for : Fridays Are For Features (or Friends)

I think this’ll be a new theme I’ll have. Every friday I’ll post up a portfolio I like. Then add it to my links.

And since good hard work should be rewarded, the first person to be featured will be a person who I’m pleased to have as a co-worker and friend, Vanessa Flores. I don’t think I’ve met any who’s works as hard as she has on their latest work. If you like storybook illustrations, fun designs, and breakfast foods check her stuff out, you will be pleased: Vanie: Illustration & Design.
